Stress levels have been rising this week due to the ongoing economic crisis and threat of recession but there is any easy way to get some relief that doesn’t cost a penny – take some exercise not only does it relax tense muscles but it helps you sleep too.
Evidence has shown that people who are fit have better physiological responses when under pressure than with less burnout and ill health. Exercise improves blood flow to your brain, bringing additional sugars and oxygen that are needed to think straight i.e. when you are thinking intensely! That speeded up blood flow also helps flush away the toxic waste products that cause a foggy head – think about how your brain feels when you come out of an day long meet or training session. Last of all exercise releases endorphins into your bloodstream and if nothing else can these at least will give you a feeling of happiness – something much needed in these uncertain days!
